This is the first installment of our new Team of the Week Feature. Each week we will be featuring a new team, highlighting their accomplishments, telling stories of great success, sharing a touching story about an athlete, or showing off some cool uniforms!

The first team to be featured is the Men’s Volleyball Team from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. The Red Men recently completed their season by finishing 2nd in the very first NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball National Championship. The team was led by All-Tournament Team selections Randy Hansen and Connor Wexter. The weekend also capped the 4 year careers of 5 seniors for the Red Men who went from an 8-25 season as Freshmen to a 29-6 Senior Season which included the 2nd Place finish along with two 3rd Place finishes. These 5 men were Tyler Frings, Randy Hansen, John Condon, Mike Bynon, and Matt Yanz.
The Red Men are led by LJ Marx who is a touching story himself. The year before these seniors stepped on campus, Marx had to step away from coaching after his 9 month old daughter Madison was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer. Five years later, Madison is doing great, and is as healthy as can be, and so are Marx and the Red Men Volleyball Team. Although these 5 seniors depart, a lot of young talent returns and hopefully will keep them strong for years to come.
